Vasool Mannan is a rural-based drama directed by Vel Kumaresan and produced by Arumugam Mathappan. The film features Sridevaa Krishnan in the lead role, with Nivedha R. Nair playing the female lead. The supporting cast includes familiar actors such as Saravana Subbaiya, Velu Ramamurthy, and Saravana Sakthi. The music for the film is composed by Bharani Samiayya. The film attempts to present the struggles of a young man who becomes trapped in financial and moral problems in a village setting.
The story revolves around Saravanan, a young man who works in a petrol station. One day, a group of people filled petrol for their bikes but refused to pay, claiming that Saravanan already owes them a large amount of money. Because of this misunderstanding and pressure, the petrol bunk owner sends Saravanan out of his job. Already facing financial difficulties due to his sister’s marriage, Saravanan falls into deeper debt. What begins as a debt of two lakh rupees slowly increases and eventually reaches ten lakh, making his situation even more difficult.
At this stage of his life, Saravanan meets a young woman whose dream is to become a police officer. She is very determined to achieve her goal and is ready to do anything to get the job, even if it means paying a large amount of money. Saravanan notices her weakness and takes advantage of her trust. Though he does not have the power or influence to get her the job, he convinces her that he can arrange it if she gives him ten lakh rupees. Believing his words, she manages to bring the money.
Meanwhile, another track in the story shows a rich and powerful man who runs a wine shop and is involved in several illegal activities. When a reporter plans to expose his fraudulent actions, the reporter is murdered. At the same time, Saravanan becomes more troubled by his financial problems. The film then focuses on how Saravanan deals with these complicated situations and whether he is able to overcome the problems he created.
In terms of performances, Sridevaa Krishnan delivers a decent performance as Saravanan and portrays the struggles of a confused young man reasonably well. Nivedha R. Nair plays her role with sincerity as a girl who strongly desires to become a police officer. Supporting actors Saravana Subbaiya, Velu Ramamurthy, and Saravana Sakthi add strength to the film with their experienced performances. Director Vel Kumaresan presents the story in a simple rural style, while Bharani Samiayya’s music supports the mood of the film. Overall, Vasool Mannan tries to highlight how greed, trust, and financial pressure can change a person’s life and the consequences that follow.
