Ram and Leela is an unusual romantic drama written and directed by Ramachandran Kannan. The film takes a different approach to the love story by combining romance, family emotions, and science-fiction elements. Produced by Ravindran Ramiah and Sudhrasan Natesan, the film has music by Ankit Menon. The story begins with Ram, a 30-year-old man from the 90s generation who is still unmarried, much to the concern of his parents. While his friends are getting married one by one, Ram is still waiting for the right person.
Ram decides that he should fall in love and starts looking for a girl in an interesting way. He chooses the electric train as the place where he hopes to meet someone special. After patiently waiting for months, he finally meets Leela and slowly falls in love with her. Their relationship develops through regular meetings and dating, but Leela has one unusual condition, she never comes out after 6 pm. This strange rule makes Ram curious and worried, as he cannot understand the reason behind her behaviour.
As Ram becomes more serious about Leela, he starts questioning her lifestyle and family. He even puts pressure on Leela, her mother, and the rest of her family to reveal the truth. The film then takes an unexpected turn when it is revealed that Leela and her family are not from this universe. They are an alien family living among human beings. This science-fiction twist gives the romantic story a completely different direction and raises the interesting question of whether love between a human and an alien can really work.
Rio Raj gives a natural performance as Ram and handles the character’s innocent and confused nature well. His romantic scenes with Vartika Jain have a pleasant feel, while his emotional moments become stronger as he discovers Leela’s secret. Vartika Jain makes a good impression as Leela, bringing mystery and charm to her character. Chetan Kadambi, Munishkanth, Malavika Avinash, Deepa Venkat and Ma Ka Pa Anand add support to the story, with their performances helping to create the family and comedy portions of the film.
Director Ramachandran Kannan deserves appreciation for attempting a different concept instead of presenting a routine romantic story. The screenplay gradually introduces the mystery surrounding Leela and keeps the central question of her identity interesting. Ankit Menon’s music supports the romantic mood and the unusual world created by the film. The film works best when it balances its love story with the science-fiction idea, although some portions may feel unusual because of the concept.
Overall, Ram and Leela is a different kind of romantic drama that mixes love, family emotions, and science fiction. The film’s biggest strength is its unusual idea and the way it connects a simple love story with an unexpected alien element. The main question is whether Ram and Leela can overcome the differences between their worlds and become a married couple. For audiences looking for a romantic film with a fresh and unusual concept, Ram and Leela offers something different from a regular love story.
