Yogi Babu starrer “Kenatha Kaanom” is all set for the worldwide theatrical release.Marking this special occasion, the entire team interacted with press and media fraternity. Adding an emotional essence to the event was the entire cast and crew sharing their saddened thoughts and experience about Late Filmmaker Suresh Sangaiah, who is no more with us.
Here are some excerpts from the event.
RB Talkies Ramesh Babu said, “I am truly delighted to be part of this occasion and to address our friends from the press and media fraternity. It has been a privilege to work with the entire team of ‘Kenatha Kaanom’. Even before our beloved director Suresh Sangaiah narrated the script of KK, we had watched ‘Oru Kidaiyin Karunai Manu’ and deeply admired his craft. He was in relentless pursuit of shaping this film with authenticity. In fact, he specifically required a location with a house that had no terrace. After a long search, when we finally found one, we faced the serious challenge of flooding. Despite the obstacles, we moved forward with conviction. Though he is not physically present with us today, his family is here. His dreams will certainly come true through this film.”
Actress Rachael Rebecca said, “Kenatha Kaanom is a very special film and extremely close to my heart. Beyond being an acting experience, it carries deep personal reflections for me. The place and the people I encountered during this journey left a lasting impact on me. The film explores strong political and psychological dimensions, and I am confident it will significantly impress the audience. It was a pleasure working with Nivas K Prasanna. I hope the film satisfies everyone.”
Actor Ramakrishnan said, “Tamil Cinema will forever miss a filmmaker like Suresh Sangaiah. Though he is not with us today, he has gifted us a beautiful film through which he will remain immortal. During filming, he faced several health challenges. Rachael tried immensely to support him, and Yogi Babu took great care of him as well. This film carries substantial political relevance. Hotstar is known for selecting distinctive scripts, and I believe Kenatha Kaanom will be a valuable addition for audiences.”
Director Susienthiran said, “Yogi Babu has become one of the most bankable and dependable actors for small and medium budget films. Nivas K Prasanna continues to do commendable work. I had long wished to collaborate with Lovelyn. Though she comes from an affluent family, she wears greasepaint purely out of passion. I sincerely hope the director’s family receives the appreciation and recognition his hard work deserves.”
Director Vasantha Balan said, “Suresh Sangaiah is one of my favourite directors. After watching the trailer of Kenatha Kaanom, I strongly felt it will deliver a powerful political statement. Every director aspires to breathe their last while creating cinema, but seeing his family here in pain deeply saddens me. I am confident this film will mark a significant milestone in the Indian Film Industry.”
Director Nelson Venkatesan said, “I have always maintained that ‘Oru Kidaiyin Karunai Manu’ is an awe-inspiring film, and it was through that film I became acquainted with Suresh Sangaiah. Even today, it leaves a deep impact. Although it received international acclaim, it did not get the regional recognition it deserved. He was a beautiful and dedicated soul who worked tirelessly until his last breath. Ramesh Babu is extremely selective in producing films, and I am grateful he invited me today. Yogi Babu is a boon to the industry. Lovelyn is immensely talented and will scale greater heights. I am confident Kenatha Kaanom will reach a wider audience.”
Distributor Guhan said, “The genre itself is interesting. It is a comedy drama, and such films are warmly welcomed by audiences. I truly believe Suresh Sangaiah is present with us in spirit. He did extensive groundwork before the shoot began. Films like this will surely impress everyone.”
Actress Lovelyn Chandrashekhar said, “Kenatha Kaanom is extremely special to me, and I deeply miss Suresh Sangaiah sir. The producers were wonderful to work with. Yogi Babu sir is humble and grounded. Nivas K Prasanna has given life to this film through his music. I thank those who helped me learn to ride the bullet bike for this role. I did not get the opportunity to work with Rachael this time, but I hope we collaborate soon. I sincerely hope everyone loves this movie.”
Director Karu Pazhaniappan said, “While many here have known Producer Ramesh Babu sir for a long time, I met him only yesterday. Any producer who genuinely supports directors and assistant directors deserves appreciation. Ramesh Babu is one such person. When social commentary comes from a comedian like Vadivelu sir, it instantly creates impact. The dialogue ‘Kenatha Kaanom’ carries that depth. Now Yogi Babu is playing the lead in a film with that powerful title. Maestro Ilaiyaraaja composes music for passion, not money, which is why he stands tall even today. I believe Nivas K Prasanna shares that same dedication. Jio Hotstar has encouraged meaningful cinema and added great value to this project. Kenatha Kaanom will surely win hearts.”
Cinematographer Thyagu said, “A film like Kenatha Kaanom requires courageous producers, and I thank Ramesh sir and Jagan Sir. Despite his health challenges, Suresh Sangaiah delivered remarkable work. Yogi Babu sir was a tremendous pillar of support. Many first-time actors were part of this project, yet the rehearsals matched the standards of a big-budget film. The pre-production phase was extensive, and the producers stood firmly behind the vision.”
Music Director Nivas K Prasanna said, “I carry many memories associated with Kenatha Kaanom. It began in 2023 during a pooja ceremony, where I agreed to compose for this film even before listening to the script. That decision was purely out of trust in Ramesh Babu sir and Suresh Sangaiah sir. I believe this film will become a cherished one for all of us. Thank you.”
Director Suresh Sangaiah’s wife Thansi Fathima said, “Suresh sir often told me that the entire cast and crew were like his family. During moments of grief, many of them called me, but I did not know how to respond at the time. I sincerely apologise and thank them for their unwavering support. Suresh was always passionate about portraying realistic reflections of nativity.”
Actor Yogi Babu said, “Initially, I was the first choice for Kidaiyin Karuppu, but I was deeply involved in comedy roles and lacked the confidence to take it up then. Today, I feel grateful to have done a meaningful film for him. He was committed to capturing every scene with realism. I thank all the assistant directors for their dedication. When his daughter spoke today, I could truly feel his presence. I also aspire to write a script and provide an opportunity for an assistant director to make their debut.”
Producer Jagan said, “I am emotionally overwhelmed to see so many gathered here in honour of Suresh Sangaiah. Over the years, we have produced many films, but this one is very close to my heart. Suresh Sangaiah had numerous scripts and even wished to make a film with Nivas K Prasanna in the lead role someday. I thank the entire team for bringing this vision to life. I dedicate this film as a tribute to the immortal maker — Suresh Sangaiah.”
